UAS Operations around Event Stadiums is PROHIBITED
The Federal Aviation Administration issued Notice to Airmen (“NOTAM”) No.FDC 4/3621, replacing NOTAM No. FDC 9/5151 from 2009, concerning the operation of aircraft and parachutes in the vicinity of stadiums during certain sporting events.
This NOTAM includes unmanned aircraft and remote controlled aircraft operations to the scope of operating restrictions within three nautical miles of stadiums and racetracks on the day of certain sporting events, posing a potential risk of criminal prosecution to model aircraft and unmanned aircraft operators.
Optimization of Airspace Procedures in the Metroplex (OAPM)
The OAPM NextGen airspace redesign project was completed in September 2014 and resulted in over 70 new approach procedures into regional airports. These new procedures are expected to reduce congestion and delay and provide fuel savings to operators. Please check your local approach procedures when flying into DFW or other regional airports as they may have changed. More information on OAPM can be found here and here.
